Midfielder Federico Valverde has been one of the highlights of the Uruguayan national team since being led by coach Marcelo Bielsa. The Real Madrid player is the captain of Celeste and scored a goal in the 5-0 victory over Bolivia last Thursday, in the Copa América.
Bielsa took over the national team in May 2023, with 12 games played since then. Valverde participated in nine of these matches and scored twice, against Chile and Bolivia.
Fede stood out mainly by setting up plays, with 13 decisive passes in the period, three great chances created, in addition to a total of 87% accuracy in his passes and 75% accuracy in long passes, according to the Sofa Score.

In terms of defense, the midfielder did not disappoint, with 11 interceptions and 55 balls recovered in total.
Valverde was champion of the last edition of the Spanish Championship and the Champions League and is an essential part of the Real Madrid squad. He is trying to repeat the success with his national team, which is practically guaranteed to reach the next stage of the Copa América.
Uruguay still faces the USA in the third round of the competition, next Monday, at 10pm (Brasília time), at Arrowhead Stadium, in Kansas City.
