UFC head Dana White condemned boxer Usik’s refusal to accept the IBF world champion belt
President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White responded to the decision of Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik to refuse the International Boxing Federation (IBF) world heavyweight champion belt. His words are quoted by The Mac Life.
White condemned the athlete’s actions and called them outrageous. “I’m happy to sit on the sidelines and watch this situation unfold over the next couple of years,” he said.
Usyk voluntarily renounced the IBF world champion belt on June 26. The athlete did this for the opportunity to arrange a championship fight for this title between British boxers Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.
On the night of May 19, Usik fought for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion with Briton Tyson Fury. The fight in Saudi Arabia lasted all 12 rounds and ended with the victory of the Ukrainian by a split decision – 115-112, 113-114, 114-113.
Usik remained undefeated, winning his 22nd fight in the professional ring.
