Valeri Karpin Extends Contract with Russian National Team for Four Years
Head coach of Rostov and the Russian national football team Valery Karpin has extended his contract for four years. This was reported on the official website of the Russian Football Union (RFU).
“I really hope that over the next four years we will have not only friendly matches, but also participation in official tournaments,” said the 55-year-old specialist.
Valeri Karpin has been in charge of the Russian national team since July 2021. Under his leadership, the national team has played seven official World Cup qualifying matches and ten friendly matches. Of these, 11 were won, five matches ended in a draw, and one ended in a defeat.
Previously, Karpin admitted leaving the Russian national team. According to him, the opportunity to combine work in the national team and in Rostov, where he is also a coach, was important to him. The RFU allowed him to combine.
