Tatarstan said it spent 1.2 billion rubles on the BRICS 2024 Games
Tatarstan Sports Minister Vladimir Leonov announced the amount spent on holding the 2024 BRICS Games. His words are quoted by TASS.
Leonov said that a total of 1.2 billion rubles were spent. “We believe that we fit into a good figure. Because the project is new, our partners helped us a lot,” he noted, clarifying that the amount did not include the cost of repairing sports infrastructure facilities and road networks.
On June 21, it became known that Russia had won the medal standings ahead of schedule at the BRICS Games, which were held in Kazan. Athletes of the Russian team won 177 gold medals and thereby guaranteed themselves first place in the overall standings. Belarus is in second place, and China is in third place.
The BRICS Games took place from June 12 to 23. In total, 387 sets of medals were competed for in 27 sports. About 4.5 thousand athletes from more than 90 countries took part in the competition.
