The general director of Spartak spoke about the future of Promes in the team

Malyshev said that Spartak will not automatically extend the contract with Promes

General Director of Moscow Spartak Oleg Malyshev spoke about the future of Dutch legionnaire Quincy Promes in the capital team. His words are quoted by RB Sport.

The functionary emphasized that the Dutchman’s current contract expires in five days and it will not be renewed automatically. “Is the club ready to extend the contract? I don’t want to guess on the coffee grounds. Let’s take it step by step. If Quincy is released to Russia, we will see what will happen next,” Malyshev said.

On June 24, it became known that Promes will most likely return to Russia from the UAE in the near future. It was clarified that the issue is close to being resolved at the level of the ministries of the two states.

On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai airport for being involved in an accident and leaving the scene. Two weeks later, the football player was arrested at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office for possible further extradition.

On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison. In the summer of 2023, he received 18 months in prison in his homeland for attacking his brother with a knife.
