The meeting between the French and the Poles took place at the Signal Iduna Park stadium in Dortmund and ended with a score of 1:1. In the 56th minute of the match, tricolor striker Kylian Mbappe scored from a penalty kick. In the 79th minute, Robert Lewandowski scored his penalty, setting the final score.

In the parallel match of Group D, the Austrians beat the Netherlands with a score of 3:2. Thus, the French finished in second place in the quartet standings and directly qualified for the playoffs. Together with them, the Austrians went to the next stage, becoming the first. The Netherlands team retains its chances for the playoffs, finishing third.

In the match with Poland, Mbappe entered the field in the French starting line-up for the first time since a broken nose received in the first round Euro match with Austria. The injured forward was replaced and later hospitalized. Doctors considered the possibility of surgery, but it was avoided.
