19-year-old Russian Michkov moved to the NHL club Philadelphia Flyers

Russian forward Matvey Michkov moved to the National Hockey League (NHL) Philadelphia Flyers. This was reported on the website of St. Petersburg SKA, for which the 19-year-old athlete competed.

The Russian team said in a statement that Michkov will join the new club this off-season. At the same time, SKA will retain the rights to the player in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

The Athletic wrote about Michkov’s impending transfer on June 24. According to the publication, Philadelphia will pay SKA up to one million dollars to buy out his contract. In addition, it was reported that the attacker has changed his agent in the United States and is now represented by Paul Theofanos.

Philadelphia selected Michkov seventh overall in the first round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. In addition to him, three more Russians were drafted in the first round – Dmitry Simashev, Daniil But and Mikhail Gulyaev.

Philadelphia did not make the playoffs last NHL season. At the end of the regular season, the team took 11th place in the Eastern Conference table.
