PSG and Mbappé will have to resolve the dispute in French justice before going to FIFA

Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain ended a seven-season partnership in the middle of this year. Despite the striker’s long period in Paris, the end of the player’s time at PSG was marked by legal disputes, which are continuing in court. The 25-year-old athlete claims that the French club has not paid salaries and bonuses since April. The values would exceed 100 million euros. However, the fight between the parties must first be resolved with French justice, according to the Spanish newspaper Sports world.

As the dispute is between a French player and a club from the same country, the issue must be resolved in local court and not by FIFA, which takes action in international matters. If Mbappé makes another complaint as a Real Madrid player, the problem could be considered an international conflict between a player who plays in Spain and a French club and thus, football’s highest governing body could be involved. However, even in this scenario, FIFA’s entry into the case would not be guaranteed.

Paris Saint-Germain claims that Mbappé made an agreement last year where the striker would give up 80 million euros if he left the French club for free, which in fact happened when he left Real Madrid.

If the action remains with FIFA, the entity has an article that makes it clear that “those clubs that delay payments for more than 30 days may be sanctioned without there being, in principle, a contractual basis that contemplates this”. In other words, if an irregularity committed by PSG is proven, the club could be prohibited from signing in one of the two transfer markets.
