UEFA will strengthen security measures due to fans running onto the field at Euro 2024
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) will strengthen security measures in connection with fans running onto the field in the group stage match of the 2024 European Championship in Germany between the national teams of Turkey and Portugal. About this on your web page X Rob Harris told Sky News.
UEFA said additional security measures would be deployed at stadiums to prevent similar incidents. It is noted that any invasion of the field constitutes a violation of the rules of conduct and entails expulsion from the stadium, a ban on attendance at any international matches and a statement to the police.
The match between Portugal and Turkey took place on June 22 and ended with a score of 3:0 in favor of the Portuguese. Portugal scored six points and guaranteed themselves access to the playoffs from first place in Group F. Turkey is in second position in the quartet.
After the match, one of the stewards working at the meeting knocked down Portuguese football player Gonzalo Ramos. After the end of the match, the players of the Portuguese national team went to the stands to thank the fans for their support, at that moment several strangers ran onto the field and were detained by the stewards. One of the security officers slipped and crashed into Ramouche’s legs.
