Albanian national team player Daka was suspended for two matches at Euro 2024
The forward of Rubin Kazan and the Albanian national team, Mirlind Daka, was disqualified for two matches of the 2024 European Championship in Germany. This was reported on the website of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
The reason was the footballer’s offensive shouts towards the Serbs. It is noted that the forward was found guilty of chanting after the group stage match of the tournament against the Croatian national team. Thus, Daku will miss Albania’s match against Spain and the 1/8 finals if the Albanians reach the playoffs of the tournament.
UEFA previously launched an investigation into Daku. After the match with Croatia, while celebrating the draw with the fans, he chanted nationalist chants that insulted the people of North Macedonia and Serbia. Daku later apologized for his nationalist chants at the Euro.
The match between Albania and Croatia took place on June 19 and ended with a score of 2:2. The Albanians managed to avoid defeat in added time to the second half, when Klaus Gyasula scored after a pass from Daku.
