Volkov: if Pavlovich attacks me, I will call the police
Russian Alexander Volkov commented on the conflict with compatriot Sergei Pavlovich at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament in Saudi Arabia. Volkov spoke about this at a press conference after the fight.
“If Pavlovich attacks me, I will call the police,” he said in response to a journalist’s question that the fighters live in the same hotel and could accidentally meet there.
Immediately after the fight, Volkov approached Pavlovich to thank him for the fight. Pavlovich pushed his opponent away and swore obscenely at him. “He sent me. He had never swore before, but then he cursed and pushed me away. He thought that I would not fight at full strength: he wanted to take my head off, but I don’t want to have my head taken off,” Volkov said.
In a fight between two Russians at the UFC tournament in Riyadh, Volkov defeated Pavlovich by unanimous decision. The 35-year-old Volkov now has 38 wins and 10 losses in mixed martial arts (MMA). The 31-year-old Pavlovich has 18 wins and three losses.
