Aston Villa needed to sell one of their most valuable players for a large sum before the end of June. The Birmingham team was ‘in the red’ with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules and will use the sale to close the 2023/24 season without running the risk of punishment.
The arrangement for Douglas to go to Italy comes as the athlete finalizes his preparation for the Copa América together with the Brazilian team, which debuts in the competition next Monday, at 10pm (BrasÃlia time). The 26-year-old player has been an important part of Dorival Júnior’s cycle as head of the Brazilian technical command.
