Russians Volkov and Pavlovich had a skirmish in a duel of views before the UFC fight

Russian fighter of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Alexander Volkov commented on the altercation with compatriot Sergei Pavlovich with the words “he owed me a mower.” He is quoted by the official UFC website.

During a battle of views in Riyadh, Alexander Volkov and Sergei Pavlovich had an argument over which of them was the first to agree to fight. Pavlovich also stated that thinking that he and Volkov are friends is a delusion.

The battle of views took place before the UFC Fight Night tournament, which will take place on the night of June 22-23 Moscow time in Saudi Arabia. The heavyweight bout between Pavlovich and Volkov will be the co-main event of the event. According to the results of the weigh-in, Pavlovich turned out to be less than a kilogram heavier than Volkov.

Previously, the fight between Russians Volkov and Pavlovich was planned to be cancelled. “Volkov and Pavlovich did not intend to fight each other, they are on good terms and periodically train together,” insiders wrote. Then Pavlovich said that Volkov’s side had signed a contract, and this changed the previously reached agreement.

35-year-old Volkov has 37 wins and 10 losses in MMA. In his last fight, he defeated Australian Tai Tuivasa.

The 31-year-old Pavlovich has 18 wins and two losses. In November 2023, the fighter lost by knockout to Englishman Tom Aspinall within a minute in a fight for the interim UFC heavyweight title.
