South Korean national figure skater disqualified for three years for rape

The athlete persuaded a junior figure skater to have sexual intercourse

An unnamed South Korean national team figure skater has been suspended for three years for rape. The portal mk.co.kr writes about this.

During a training camp in Italy, two South Korean figure skaters drank alcohol. One of them called a junior skater to a women’s dormitory and forcibly persuaded him to have sexual contact. The South Korean Figure Skating Federation (KSU) has decided to ban the athlete from any competition for three years.

The second skater did not take part in the sexual act, but filmed what was happening on her phone and then posted it publicly. For this she was disqualified for one year. The injured junior was reprimanded for violating the rules – he should not have been in the women’s dormitory.

Earlier, Canadian figure skater Nikolai Sorensen was accused of rape 11 years ago. The victim was a 22-year-old figure skater who now works as a coach in the USA. The woman, who has not been named, made the case public after Sorensen spoke in an interview about the safety of figure skaters in ice dancing.
