Conor McGregor said he suffered a toe injury in training
Irish fighter of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Conor McGregor revealed the reason for the cancellation of the fight with American Michael Chandler. McGregor wrote about this on his Instagram page (social network banned in Russia; belongs to the Meta company, recognized as an extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation).
“We were damn ready for this fight, but we lost concentration. “I was training without full protective gear and I hit my toe on my elbow and broke my finger,” McGregor said.
The Irishman added that he wants a new Bugatti, but cannot justify buying it because he does not make money from fights. The last time McGregor entered the Octagon was in the summer of 2021, when he lost to American Dustin Poirier by technical knockout after a broken leg.
Previously, former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen said that McGregor was in rehab, and that is why his fight with Chandler did not take place. “Conor is not injured. He is in a rehabilitation center for substance abuse, including alcohol,” Sonnen said.
On June 14, it became known that the fight between McGregor and Chandler at UFC 303, scheduled for June 30, was officially canceled. The Irishman said that the decision to withdraw was made after consultation with doctors, the UFC and the team.
