Semshov said that the lack of European Cups does not allow the Russians to progress
Euro 2008 bronze medalist in the Russian national team Igor Semshov said that football players in Russia cannot progress. He is quoted by “Championship”.
“A football player in our country cannot progress now. He reaches a certain level, and that’s where the progress ends. The absence of European Cups is significant,” said Semshov.
The former midfielder of the Russian national team added that the main problem of modern domestic football is the lack of competition. According to him, there are fewer quality foreign players in the Russian Premier League (RPL). And those that exist have lowered their demands on themselves, Semshov noted.
Earlier, midfielder of Le Havre and the Russian national football team Daler Kuzyaev compared the championships of Russia and France. “I wouldn’t say that our championship is too bad, but in France the level is higher in terms of intensity, speed, and martial arts,” he explained.
