Russia with 177 gold medals won the overall BRICS Games ahead of schedule

Russia ahead of schedule won the medal standings of the BRICS Games, which are being held in Kazan. Match TV reports this.

Athletes of the Russian team won 177 gold medals and thereby guaranteed themselves first place in the overall standings. At the moment, Belarus is in second place, and China is in third.

The BRICS Games take place from June 12 to 23. In total, 387 sets of medals are played out in 27 sports. About 4.5 thousand athletes from more than 90 countries participate in the competition.

In April, the government of the Russian Federation prepared a draft resolution on the amount of prize money for representatives of the country who will become winners and prize-winners of the BRICS Games. According to it, a payment of 358,400 rubles is provided for a gold medal. Silver medalists will receive 179,200 rubles, and bronze medalists – 107,500.

Financial incentives are also provided for coaches and specialists of the Russian national team, who will provide training for the winners and prize-winners. They are entitled to payments in the amount of 171,500, 84,500 and 51,200 thousand rubles for the gold, silver and bronze of their wards, respectively.
