Rubin footballer Daku is under threat of disqualification for Euro 2024

Striker of Rubin Kazan and the Albanian national football team Mirlind Daku was under threat of disqualification for Euro 2024. The Football Federation of North Macedonia (FFM) called on UEFA to consider the player’s behavior and published a corresponding message on its website.

After the match with Croatia, Daku, celebrating the draw with Albanian fans, chanted nationalist chants that insulted the people of North Macedonia and Serbia. The Macedonian side called on Daka to publicly apologize, and UEFA to take appropriate disciplinary measures against him.

Earlier, the Secretary General of the Sebia Football Union, Jovan Surbatovic, appealed to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) with a demand to punish the national teams of Albania and Croatia for the behavior of their fans, who chanted chants calling for physical violence against the Serbs. He noted that in the absence of sanctions, Serbia may withdraw from the Euro.

Daku made his debut at the tournament in the match with Croatia, which ended with a score of 2:2. He came on as a substitute in the 85th minute, and 10 minutes after his cross into the penalty area, Albanian Klaus Gyasula scored the goal that allowed Albania to draw the match.
