China includes 11 swimmers caught doping in the list of participants in the 2024 Olympics
China has included 11 swimmers caught doping on the list for the Olympic Games (OG) in Paris. The Japan Times writes about this.
Traces of trimetazidine, a drug for improving the functioning of the heart muscle, which can improve physical performance, were found in the blood of athletes.
The Chinese swimmers were not disqualified despite positive doping tests. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accepted the argument that the banned substance entered the athletes’ bodies accidentally. Traces of trimetazidine were found in the kitchen of the hotel where the Chinese team was staying.
Earlier, the United States appealed to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the International Olympic Committee with a demand to begin an investigation. US Anti-Doping Agency CEO Travis Tygart accused the World Anti-Doping Agency and the Chinese Anti-Doping Agency of hiding information.
