Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender Beraldo spoke this Monday at a national team press conference in the United States. The former São Paulo player stated that his proximity to Dorival and his rapport with Marquinhos, his teammate on the French team, do not guarantee an advantage in the fight for a starting place in Brazil.
“We have to show him every day why we deserve to be in the starting lineup. I believe that it’s not because I know Marquinhos or Dorival that I have more opportunity to play, but rather by demonstrating it on the field,” said the player , led by the coach at São Paulo.
“It’s not in a call that we’re going to learn all of Dorival’s teachings. Rafa (Rafael) and I can still know a little more, because we worked with him for a whole year. So, we know more about what he wants, what you want. Many times, we can even help other teammates”, added Beraldo, trained at the São Paulo academy.

Speaking more about Brazil’s defense, which has shown itself to be fragile in recent games, the 20-year-old defender concluded that there are still details to be ironed out before their Copa América debut.
“We conceded three goals (in the last two friendlies). We can see what we did wrong, we still have a week of work before we debut and I believe that these details will be adjusted. Dorival says that we all need to defend together and give ourselves a little more, always maintaining defensive organization, regardless of the moment of the game”, declared Beraldo.
Brazil debuts in the Copa América next Monday, at 10pm (Brasília time), against Costa Rica.
