Diver Schleicher: There are no opponents at the BRICS Games, the Olympics are much harder
Russian diver Nikita Shleicher compared the BRICS Games and the Olympics. His words on Monday, June 17, were quoted by RIA Novosti.
Schleicher spoke about the lack of competition at the BRICS Games. “It’s more relaxed here. These are different starts, the Olympics are much harder both mentally and physically, you need to approach it differently,” said the athlete. He noted that he will follow the diving competitions at the Olympic Games.
26-year-old Schleicher is a two-time European champion. In addition, he has four silver and three bronze medals at the continental championship.
Earlier, Russian track and field athlete Kristina Makarenko appreciated the atmosphere at the BRICS Games in Kazan and spoke about comparing the competitions with the Olympics. “I hope no one even said it was the same thing. Emotions from the BRICS Games as from a big start? Not at all,” she admitted.
The BRICS Games are taking place in Russia from June 12 to 23. A total of 387 sets of medals in 27 sports will be competed at the competition.
