Scotland national team player suspended for two Euro 2024 matches

Scotland international Porteous has been suspended for two Euro 2024 matches

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has suspended Scotland defender Ryan Porteous for two matches at Euro 2024. This was reported on Monday, June 17, on the organization’s website.

At the end of the first half of the opening match of the European Championship against the German national team, Porteous fouled German captain Ilkay Gundogan in his penalty area. For this, the player received a straight red card, and a penalty was awarded against the Scots, which was converted by Kai Havertz. The Germans won with a score of 5:1.

Thus, Porteous will not help the Scots in the other two matches of the Euro 2024 group stage. On June 19, the team will meet with the Swiss national team, and on June 23 – with Hungary.

Euro 2024 takes place in ten cities in Germany from June 14 to July 14. The Russian national team misses the tournament due to disqualification by decision of UEFA.
