Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Nikita Nagorny spoke about plans to take a break from his career. His words are quoted by Match TV.
“First of all, I want to miss the Russian Cup, because such intermittent preparations can lead to stress injuries. I’m not talking about retiring from my career, but I’ll definitely take a break,” Nagorny said.
Nagorny won gold at the Tokyo Olympics in team exercises. He is also an Olympic silver medalist in this discipline at the 2016 Games. In addition, the Russian has two bronze medals at the 2020 Olympic Games in individual competitions. Since December 2020, Nagorny has headed the All-Russian children and youth movement “Yunarmiya”.
On June 12, it became known that the United States had imposed sanctions against Nagorny. The 27-year-old athlete was included in a list of more than 30 individuals and 200 legal entities due to assistance to the Russian army during the Northern Military District.
