A fan commented on the carrying of the Russian flag into the stands during Euro 2024. His words are quoted by Sport 24.
“The inspection was very superficial. They touched him, looked and let him go with a flag,” said a football fan from Belgorod. He also added that he did not experience any hostility from fans from other countries.
Earlier it became known that Russian flags were hung at the opening match of Euro 2024. During the Germans’ penalty kick in the first half, the broadcast frame included two tricolors hanging outside the Scots’ goal. One of the flags had the words “Belgorod” written on it.
At the European Championships, symbols of countries that do not participate in the tournament are prohibited. The Russian national team was suspended from participation in all international competitions and did not take part in the Euro 2024 qualifications.
