Current champions, Italy debuted with victory in the 2024 Euro Cup. The Azzurri had a scare, but beat coach Sylvinho’s Albania, ex-Corinthians, this Saturday, 2-1, at Signal Iduna Park. The Italian turnaround came through goals from Bastoni and Barella.
The Italian team, led by Luciano Spalletti, scored a quick goal. At 20 seconds, Dimarco took a wrong side kick and handed the ball to Bajrami, who dropped a bomb and opened the scoring.
Italy, however, didn’t take long to leave everything the same. After ten minutes, Pellegrini crossed for Bastoni, who headed it with precision and found the net. At 15, after the Albanian defense made a bad move, Barella hit a beautiful finish from the edge of the area and turned the score around.
With the result, the Italians start off on the right foot and take second place in Group B, with three points, behind only leader Spain, with the same score.
In the next round, the Azzurra will face the Spaniards for the lead in the group. The duel is scheduled for 4pm (BrasÃlia time) next Thursday, at Veltins-Arena.
On the other hand, Albania led by Sylvinho tries to score the first points against Croatia, on Wednesday, at 10 am, at the Volksparkstadion.
