Russian tennis players Andrei Rublev, Karen Khachanov and Lyudmila Samsonova will miss the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The head of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFT), Shamil Tarpishchev, told TASS about this.

The functionary clarified that Rublev requires restoration. “He plays everything. The body is not made of iron,” Tarpishchev added.

Rublev competed at the 2020 Games in Tokyo and, paired with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, became the Olympic champion in mixed doubles. The Russian is ranked sixth in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings. The 22nd racket of the world, Khachanov, won the silver medal in singles at the 2020 Olympics. Samsonova, ranked 15th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), did not participate in the previous Games.

Russians and Belarusians were allowed to participate in the 2024 Olympics as individual neutral athletes. The tournament will take place from July 26 to August 11.
