Germany’s defeat ‘is a message’, says Kai Havertz

Winning the opening game 5-1 “is a message”, said striker Kai Havertz after Germany’s rout of Scotland this Friday, in Munich, in the first round of Group A of the European Championship.

The German goals were scored by Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, Havertz, Niclas Füllkrug and Emre Can.

“I think when you win 5-1, it’s a message. But this is just the beginning. We saw the quality we have in the team, how good we are. We’re still going to face other difficult opponents”, highlighted Havertz in the mixed zone.

“We felt this energy in the stadium from the first minute. We gave rhythm, the fans were together. The goals were coming, that’s also good. And, with the red card, the second half was a little calmer”, added the German striker .

“We had the game under control for 90 minutes. The whole country is supporting us, we saw that at the training center,” continued the Arsenal player.

“The first 20 minutes were very good, we didn’t make any mistakes. We had a deserved penalty, punished with a deserved red card. It’s just the first step, but a very important step”, analyzed ‘Mannschaft’ coach, Julian Nagelsmann.

“The first goal was well constructed, the second too, with Kai [Havertz] doing a good job. We defended well and didn’t give ourselves space”, added the coach, satisfied with his team’s performance.
