Germany overruns Scotland and wins the opening game of the European Championship

This Friday, in the opening game of the European Cup and the first round of the group stage, Germany faced Scotland at the Allianz Arena, in Munich, and won 5-1. Wirtz, Musiala, Havertz, Fullkrug and Emre Can shook the networks for the tournament hosts. Rudiger scored against and scored for Scotland.

With the victory, the German team reached three points and took the lead in Group A. Scotland was in fourth place, with no points won. Both teams await the result of the match between Hungary and Switzerland, which takes place this Saturday, at 10 am (Brasília time), and will define the positions of this first round of the group stage.

Germany returns to the field next Wednesday, at 1 pm, when they face Hungary at the Stuttgart Arena, in the second round of the first phase. For the other match in group A, Scotland will face Switzerland at 4pm, at the Cologne Stadium.

The score was opened by Germany just ten minutes into the opening half. Wirtz, at the edge of the area, took advantage of a pass from Toni Kroos on the right wing and finished low, first time, to score the first goal of the match.

The home team extended their lead in the 19th minute of the first half. Havertz received a ball from Gundogan on the left, cut a marker inside the area and rolled it to Musiala, who squared it and shot into the corner of goalkeeper Gunn.

At 46 in the first half, Germany increased the gap. Ryan Porteous hit a violent tackle on Gundogan in the small area and the referee went to consult VAR. After review, the Scottish player was sent off and the penalty was awarded. Havertz moved the goalkeeper and converted the charge.

Germany’s fourth goal came in the 23rd minute of the second half. Fullkrug took advantage of the ball hit by the opposing defense and hit a strong finish into the Scottish archer’s left corner.

Scotland scored at 42 in the final stage. After a free kick, the ball was hit and Rudiger tried to deflect it towards the end line, but he played it towards his own goal and scored against it.

The last goal of the game was scored again by Germany, in the 48th minute of additional time. Emre Can took advantage of Thomas Muller’s pass, dominated on the edge of the area and shot low into the left corner, with no chance for Gunn.
