The holiest round of English football has arrived. “Boxing Day”, with games after Christmas, will be held this Sunday, with disputes at the top of the table and six games in one day.
To open the 19th round of the English Championship, the leader Manchester City receives Leicester, at 12:00 pm (GMT), at the Etihad Stadium.
After a rout away from home against Newcastle in the last round, City arrives packed for the confrontation against the ninth-placed team, who need to recover morale after being eliminated by Liverpool in the League Cup.

Afterwards, at 2:30 pm, third-placed Chelsea will face Aston Villa away from home, at Villa Park. Chelsea are looking for the three points to continue in the fight for the first position. The home team, in turn, is in 10th position and will not have the coach Gerrard, away by covid-19.
Closing the round, on Monday, at 17:00, Manchester United will face Newcastle, in the only one that will not be played this Sunday.
Currently in fifth place, Manchester United is looking, in front of the vice-lamp, for a chance to enter the classification zone for the Europa League.
“Boxing Day” will be shorter in 2021 due to the increase in covid-19 cases among English clubs. Thus, clashes between Liverpool and Leeds United, Wolverhampton and Watford and Burnley and Everton were postponed.
