The IOC reviewed the results of the 1900 Games and gave France a medal to Great Britain
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has revised the results of the 1900 Olympic Games in Paris. This was announced by IOC Communications Director Mark Adams, quoted by TASS.
The Executive Committee handed over to France the Great Britain medal won by Lloyd Hildebrand in the 25-kilometer track cycling race. “Recent research has concluded that, despite the fact that Hildebrand was a British citizen, he was born and raised in France and competed for a French club before and after the 1900 Paris Games,” Adams explained.
The French won the medal standings at the 1900 Olympics – the team now has 27 gold, 39 silver and 37 bronze medals. Great Britain has 31 awards (15-7-9) and is third in the standings.
The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
