The ball features “Connected Ball”, which will send accurate ball data to video referees in real time. Combining player positioning with artificial intelligence, the match ball will contribute to UEFA’s semi-automatic offside technology, helping referees make quicker decisions.
Furthermore, Fussballiebe will help VAR identify each individual touch of the ball, reducing the time spent resolving penalties or handballs. The ball has an internal suspension system that houses a motion sensor powered by a rechargeable battery even by induction.
With the help of several cameras that will capture the players’ movements, it will be possible to know the exact moment in which the player comes into contact with the ball. The internal sensors in the Fussballiebe will be able to determine in cases of a hand touch whether the ball touched another part of the body first.
