The ITF has allowed all Russian tennis players from the application to participate in the 2024 Olympics
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has allowed all Russian tennis players from the application to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games. This was announced by the President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFF), Shamil Tarpishchev, whose words are reported by RIA Novosti.
Tarpishchev said that the ITF did not have any questions for Russian players. “We will send the final application by the 19th. The main thing is that we have no restrictions on the formation of the team,” he added.
Thus, the Russians will be able to compete at the tournament in full force – four athletes in each category. The team will be formed in accordance with the ratings of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). Currently, the team includes Daniil Medvedev, Andrei Rublev, Karen Khachanov, Roman Safiullin, Daria Kasatkina, Lyudmila Samsonova, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Mirra Andreeva.
Russians and Belarusians were allowed to participate in the 2024 Games as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not get to Paris. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
