Midfielder Nicolo Barella, called up by Italy for the European Championship in Germany (June 14 to July 14), renewed his contract with Inter Milan until 2029, the club announced this Tuesday.
“I didn’t hesitate for a second. I believe in Inter’s project and I wanted to formalize it before the start of the Euros,” explained Barella, quoted in an official statement from the team.
The 27-year-old player was one of the pillars of coach Simone Inzaghi’s team in the recent victory of the Italian Championship. Across all competitions, he played 48 games and scored two goals in the 2023/2024 season.

Revealed by Cagliari, Barella arrived at Inter in 2019 and won two Serie A titles with the club (2021 and 2024) and two Coppa Italia titles (2022 and 2023).
Euro champion for the Italian team in 2021, the midfielder was called up by coach Luciano Spalletti to compete in the continental tournament this year.
Barella did not participate in the team’s first training session in Germany this Tuesday because he felt a muscle problem in last Sunday’s friendly against Bosnia, but it is not a concern for the Euros.
