The IOC spoke out about the use of a poster with Isinbayeva before the 2024 Games

The IOC has denied the use of a poster with Isinbayeva to advertise the 2024 Games in Paris

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) spoke out about the use of a poster with athlete Elena Isinbayeva with the Russian flag before the 2024 Games in Paris. The organization’s commentary is provided by RIA Novosti.

The IOC has denied using the banner to advertise the Paris Games. “The poster depicted and circulated in Russian media and Russian social media platforms refers to an advertising campaign that was launched in 2020, long before the current situation,” the organization said.

The poster in question shows Isinbayeva from behind after winning the pole vault at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, holding a Russian flag. It was previously reported that such a poster was spotted in Paris.

The IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the 2024 Games as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will not be allowed to participate in the competition. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
