Weightlifters Bella Paredes and Neiser Grefa received the Silver and Bronze Legacy awards, respectively.
Athlete Kiara Rodriguez was awarded with the Golden Legacy, maximum distinction that, from this year, will deliver the Guayas Sports Federation (FDG) to its best figures in recognition of their international performances.
Kiara won the bronze medal in the long jump and was awarded a diploma for her sixth place in the 100-meter dash during the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, made this year.
The award and recognition ceremony was held at the theater of the National Sports Federation of Ecuador (Fedenador), which was attended by leaders, athletes, coaches and parents.
The best representative of the adapted sport of Ecuador was happy when she received her recognition from the president of the FDG, Roberto Ibáñez, who also gave her a economic incentive of $ 10,640.
“I am deeply proud of each and every one of you, because not only have we given a great demonstration of our skills, sporting potentials and leadership, but also human quality has been delivered ”, said the athlete.
Regarding the sporting successes of Guayas, he said: “This was an extraordinary year: we won the National Youth Games in adapted sport in Imbabura 2021, we reached the podium in international events, we managed to have an athletic track with international standards, we achieved a Paralympic bronze medal in Tokyo and, to close with a flourish, Guayaquil will host a multisport event of the Olympic cycle (Bolivarian Games 2025)”.
The Silver Legacy and second prize of the provincial entity was received by the weightlifter Bella Paredes. His award was attributed after reaching the silver medal in the Uzbekistan Youth World Championships, gold in the Cali-Valle 2021 Youth Pan American Games and first in the National Youth Games, Imbabura 2021. The athlete also received an economic incentive of $ 3,900.
For its part, the Bronze Legacy corresponded to the halterista Neiser Grefa, who, in addition to the trophy, was awarded an economic incentive for $ 3,150.
The ceremony also recognized the work carried out by the cantonal sports leagues, six presidents of associations by sport of Guayas, as well as coaches and characters who contributed in 2021 to the sporting growth of the province.
In a press release, the FDG made it known that more than 380 athletes from its records received about $ 140,000 in financial incentive as part of a project by the entity to motivate them for their outstanding national and international actions, both in the conventional and adapted sectors.
