Aston Villa asks for R$340 million to negotiate Brazilian Douglas Luiz with Arsenal

After a great season at Aston Villa, midfielder Douglas Luiz is attracting the attention of some big European teams. Among those interested is Arsenal, English runner-up, who are looking to reinforce their midfield.

Called up to defend the Brazilian team in the Copa América, the player is valued at 50 million pounds (around R$340 million) by Aston Villa. The information is from the English newspaper Mirror.

Douglas was essential to Aston Villa’s above-average season, qualifying for the next edition of the Champions League. He scored ten goals and provided ten assists, acting as the first midfielder in most of his 53 matches.

Aston Villa would like to keep the Brazilian, but may end up having to trade him to comply with Premier League rules. The club is among those that need to sell athletes by June 30th to deliver the accounts in the “green” within the financial fair-play rules.

Douglas Luiz arrived at Aston Villa in 2019, coming from Manchester City, and cost 15 million pounds (R$102 million). Still according to the English newspaper, Milan and Juventus would also be behind the 26-year-old steering wheel.

Arsenal already had a previous desire for Douglas, who comes from the Vasco da Gama academy. The Londoners even made an offer of 25 million pounds (R$170 million) in 2022, which was rejected by Aston Villa.
