Tennis player Saville on doping control: torture, you can’t go to the toilet normally
Former Russian tennis player Daria Saville, now representing Australia, complained of difficulties due to doping controls. Her words are available on the YouTube channel What The Vlog, which is hosted by tennis player Daria Kasatkina and figure skater Natalya Zabiyako.
Saville called the procedure torture because she can’t go to the toilet normally due to the fact that doping officers may come. “You’re sitting there, damn it, thinking: that’s it, I won’t piss for another hour. She’s like this: I want to sleep, but you won’t get any damn sleep, because you can’t, damn it,” she said.
Saville also recalled that she missed one test. “They didn’t find me in Madrid,” said the athlete, adding that another time, in Parma, they didn’t come to her at the designated time slot.
Saville (Gavrilova before her marriage) competed for Russia until 2015. She has one victory in singles and three in doubles at Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tournaments.
