This Sunday, Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman spoke about Barcelona’s Frenkie De Jong at a press conference and did not guarantee his presence in the Euro Cup. The midfielder is recovering from an ankle injury and, if he does not recover by the end of the group stage, he will be removed from the squad.
“Everyone is 100% except Frenkie. He’s taken the next step. He might not be fit for the first game. Still, he’ll remain in the group. So we could wait until the second or third game. That’s a possibility. Just If he can’t play the first three games, I’ll have to think about it…” he said.
“If I have the feeling that he is really in the best shape for the group games, then he will continue, but if not…”, he concluded.

De Jong has not been on the field since April 21, in Barcelona’s 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid in the Spanish Championship. Previously, the athlete had been out for a while due to ankle injuries. In total, he played just 30 games this season.
The midfielder is one of the main players in the Dutch national team. If confirmed, this will be a big loss for your national team in the Eurocup dispute. The competition will be held between June 14th and July 14th, in Germany.
The Netherlands enters the field this Monday, at 3:45 pm (Brasília time), against Iceland, at the Feyenoord Stadium, to play their last friendly before the continental tournament.
