Pedri scores twice, and Spain thrashes Northern Ireland in the last friendly before the Euro Cup

This Saturday, at the Mallorca Son Moix Stadium, the Spain beat Northern Ireland 5-1 in a friendly. The Spanish goals were scored by Pedri (2), Morata, Fabián Ruiz and Oyarzabal. Daniel Ballard scored for the Northern Irish team.

Spain is preparing to debut in the European Championship, which takes place in Germany. The team led by Luis de la Fuente also beat Andorra, 5-0, in the preparation.

Next Saturday (15), Spain returns to the pitch precisely to debut in the European Championship. The team faces Croatia, at 1pm (Brasília time), at the Olympiastadion Berlin. Northern Ireland, in turn, next Tuesday, in another friendly, will face Andorra, at 3:45 pm, at Estadio Enrique Roca de Murcia.

Northern Ireland opened the scoring just 2 minutes into the opening half. Missing on the right, Boyd Munce crossed the ball into the box and Daniel Ballard broke free from the Spanish defense to head the ball into Unai Símon’s right corner.

Spain’s equalizer came in the 11th minute. Midfielder Pedri received a pass from Nacho in the attacking field, advanced and was not pressured by the opposing defense. So, the Barcelona player tried it from outside the area and hit the right corner of the goal, with no chance for Peacock-Farrell.

Shortly after, in the 18th minute, the Spanish team turned the match around. Jesus Navas received it on the right and crossed into the area. Morata rose higher than the marker and headed into the right corner. Before finding the net, the ball touched the post.

In the 29th minute, Spain scored again. Nico Williams received it, invaded the area and crossed back. Pedri, then, free from marking, pushed the ball into the net inside the small area.

Still in the first half, at 35 minutes, the Spanish scored their fourth goal in the match. Lamine Yamal made a beautiful move on the right and crossed to Fabián Ruiz, who, with his right leg, completed the ball into the goal.
