Sporting director talks about Portuguese midfielder speculated at Bayern again

Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, recalled and regretted this Saturday the failure to negotiate with Portuguese midfielder João Palhinha, from Fulham, before the start of the last season. The athlete is being speculated again at the Bavarian club.

“It would have been a signing in a position that would have helped. This way, the squad would have been less short and the injuries would have been less significant,” he told Suddeutsche Zeitung.

Last year, the transfer came very close to becoming a reality. Now, rumors once again point to the German team’s interest in the midfielder.

An absolute starter at Fulham, Palhinha was one of those responsible for the club’s stay in the first division of the English Championship. In total, he played 39 games this season, scored one goal and made four assists.

For the position, Bayern currently has: Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Konrad Laimer. With the arrival of Vincent Kompany, the new coach, Max Eberl admitted that there will be changes to the squad.

“Radical is a bit of a strong adjective, but we want to change things. We know exactly what we want and we’re going after it,” he said.
