England was surprised by Iceland this Friday, at Wembley, in the city of London, in a friendly match. With a goal from Thorsteinsson, the Icelanders beat the English 1-0.
The friendly was England’s last before the start of the Euro Cup. In addition to the defeat to Iceland, the English team beat Bosnia Herzegovina last Monday, 3-0.
Now, England focuses on the debut of the European Cup. The team faces Serbia in the first round, on the 16th, in a Group C game of the competition. Iceland, in turn, will not compete in the tournament, but will return to the field for a friendly against the Netherlands, next Monday.

Playing at home in front of their fans, England entered the field expecting a quiet victory. However, the surprise came at the beginning of the first half. In the 12th minute, Thorsteinsson received the ball on the left, cut to his right foot and hit the corner of Ramsdale, opening the scoring for Iceland.
After the goal conceded, England threw themselves into the attack in search of a draw. However, low offensive productivity prevented the English from equalizing the score. Iceland knew how to close in to leave the field with the victory.
Also this Friday, Germany beat Greece 2-1, and thus arrive at the European Championship with a victory and a draw in the two friendlies they played. Havertz and Grob scored for the Germans, while Masouras scored for the Greeks.
The German team debuts in the European Championship on the 15th, against Scotland. Like Iceland, Greece will not compete in the competition. The team faces Malta next Tuesday, in another friendly.
