Tutberidze spoke about Zagitova’s desire to refuse to participate in the World Cup

Honored Coach of Russia Eteri Tutberidze spoke about the behavior of figure skater Alina Zagitova before going to the 2019 World Cup. She spoke about this on the air of the “Straight Talk” program on Channel One.

According to Tutberidze, in 2019 Zagitova doubted her strength and realized that she could lose at the World Cup. “She missed training not because of laziness, but because of the inability to overcome it all mentally,” she said.

The coach said that Zagitova had a desire to refuse the trip: the athlete intentionally did not pack her bags before leaving and could be late for the flight. To avoid this, Tutberidze turned to the staff of “Sambo-70”, asking them to collect the skater’s luggage and deliver her to the airport by car.

In 2019, the World Figure Skating Championships were held in Japan. Zagitova won the gold of the tournament. A year earlier, the Russian woman became the Olympic champion.
