Oleg Taktarov advised Makhachev to move to welterweight
Mixed style fighter (MMA) and film actor Oleg Taktarov gave advice to the champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in lightweight weight Islam Makhachev. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
According to the ex-athlete, the Russian needs to move to welterweight. “In my opinion, Islam removes excess weight. Because of this, he simply does not have enough strength, as he did in the first round against Dustin Poirier. We need to move on and make history. Why be afraid? – said Taktarov.
On the night of Sunday, June 2, Makhachev defeated Poirier in the main fight of the tournament. The Russian won by submission in the fifth round and defended his UFC lightweight title for the third time.
32-year-old Makhachev won the 26th victory in his career, his record includes one defeat. He tops the UFC rankings regardless of weight category.
