Chernyshenko said that Russians performing at the Olympics do not break the law
Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko assessed the legality of the actions of the country’s representatives who want to compete at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. His words are quoted by Interfax.
According to him, the athletes will not violate Russian laws. “Sports federations made their own decisions on participation in the Games. As a result, our athletes will be able to compete at the Olympics individually and in a neutral status,” Chernyshenko said.
He added that the Russians have currently received 49 Olympic licenses in seven sports, this number is not final. We are talking about judo, wrestling, tennis, kayaking and canoeing, cycling and trampolining and taekwondo.
The Summer Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Olympics in Paris as individual neutral athletes.
