This Wednesday, at Empower Field at Mile High, in Colorado (USA), the Uruguay thrashed the Mexico 4-0 in a friendly preparatory match for the 2024 Copa América. The goals were scored by Darwin Núñez (3) and Facundo Pellistri.
Both teams are preparing for the Copa América, which starts on the 20th of this month. The competition between the teams will be hosted by the United States.
Uruguay debuts in the tournament on the 23rd, against Panama, at 10pm (Brasília time), at the Hard Rock Stadium. Mexico still has one more friendly match to play before taking the field in the Copa América. The team faces Brazil, this Saturday, at 9:30 pm, at Kyle Field.

The Uruguayan team opened the scoring in the 8th minute of the opening stage. Shirt 9 Darwin Núñez took advantage of a rebound from his own shot and, in the small area, pushed the ball into the back of the net.
Pellistri, in the 26th minute, increased the Uruguayans’ advantage. After receiving a low cross from Brian Rodríguez, the striker shot into the middle of the goal and Rangel, the Mexican goalkeeper, accepted it.
At 44 minutes, still in the first half, Uruguay increased its advantage in the match. In a quick counterattack, Núñez played deep to Maximiliano Araújo, who invaded the area and crossed low. So, the center forward appeared and played the ball to score his second goal in the duel.
To close the score, 5 minutes into the second half, Uruguay scored their fourth goal. Pellistri received the ball, invaded the area, dribbled past the Mexican goalkeeper and crossed. Darwin Núñez, free from marking, just needed to touch the goal and reach his third of the match.
