The US State Department announced the presence of information about Russia’s desire to interfere with the 2024 Games
The US State Department spoke out about Russia’s attempts to discredit the 2024 Olympic Games. The words of the head of the organization’s press service, Matthew Miller, are quoted by TASS.
The US State Department announced the availability of information about Russia’s desire to interfere with the Games in Paris. “There is information regarding the report [Microsoft]that we have shared with our allies and partners,” Miller said.
He also made the assertion, without evidence, that Moscow had previously been seen spreading disinformation. “So it doesn’t surprise us that they’re doing this for the Olympics,” Miller said.
Earlier, Microsoft spoke about the creation of videos in Russia, the purpose of which is to tarnish the reputation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the organizers of the Olympics. Russia has been accused of filming fake news stories in different languages describing problems in preparation for the Games, including those related to security.
The Summer Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11. The IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the tournament as individual neutral athletes subject to a number of conditions.
