The head of the RFU Dyukov announced a decline in Russians’ interest in European football
The head of the Russian Football Union (RFU), Alexander Dyukov, spoke about the interest of his compatriots in European football. His words are quoted by Sport24.
According to the functionary, he is falling. “Much fewer fans follow the Champions League and other tournaments. I don’t want to speak for everyone, but many people started watching only from the quarterfinals of the playoffs,” Dyukov said.
The RFU President also noted that he will watch some matches of the upcoming European Championship. “Of course, interest in the tournament without our team has decreased. This concerns not only me,” Dyukov added.
Russian football clubs and national teams do not take part in international tournaments by decision of the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). The restrictions came into force in February 2022.
