Wiener criticized the removal of elements named after Russian women from the FIG rules
President of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (VFKhG) Irina Viner appreciated the removal of five elements named after Russians from the rules of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to her, in this way the sport is being leveled, and it faces exclusion from the Olympic program. “Supposedly the medical commission says that this is dangerous to health. Isn’t it dangerous for women to jump on a balance beam and box?” — Wiener asked.
Earlier, the President of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation (FSGR) Vasily Titov commented on the FIG decision. He emphasized that a total of six elements were excluded from the rules, five of which were named after Russian women.
The exclusion of elements from the FIG rules for the period from 2025 to 2028 became known on April 26. We are talking about two equilibria of Zarina Gizikova and one of Olga Kapranova, as well as rotations of Gizikova and Daria Trubnikova. All athletes represent rhythmic gymnastics.
