According to him, he reacts calmly to such news, since he is not the president of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR). “In any case, the athlete is given a very short period of time to realize himself and achieve the highest results that you strive for throughout your life. This is the choice of every athlete,” said Kostomarov.
Earlier, the change of citizenship by Russian figure skaters was explained by Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova. In her opinion, this is due to fear of competition.
Russian figure skaters were banned from competing in tournaments under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) in March 2022. The last major start for domestic athletes was the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
