Coach Ignashevich explained his departure from Baltika by saying that the team needed new energy
Sergei Ignashevich explained his resignation from the post of head coach of the Kaliningrad football club Baltika. His words are given in the team’s Telegram channel.
“It’s hard for me to say goodbye. I really fell in love with Kaliningrad, met amazing people, my family was absolutely happy here. It is difficult to leave a team in which you have invested so much effort, ideas and resources. But I think my cycle at the club is over,” Ignashevich said. In his opinion, the team needs new energy and impetus that will allow them to gain momentum and return to the Russian Premier League (RPL).
Ignashevich announced his departure from Baltika on June 2. This happened after the team’s defeat in the Russian Cup final from Zenit.
Ignashevich will head Baltika in 2021. Last season, the Kaliningraders took 15th place in the RPL and were relegated from the elite division.
